Dashboard Confessional- Stolen

I'm not really sure about the bands whereabouts, such as- Where they're from, what 'exactly' their genre of music is etc. But we all remember singing to their very famous 'Vindicated' when Spiderman got out! Well, at least I do ...

Speaking in tune with DB, they aren't all that known... They aren't the band that come out with top hit singles every week and make an album every second year and even if they did, we wouldn't be too aware, unless ofcourse we were super huge fans of theirs.

There's this one song of theirs though that sets them apart from the rest...with the ability to transform your mind elsewhere, to a place filled with love and belonging? I'm not too sure what that feeling is...but it's a happy one to say the least.

It's sad to know that, you've got to search for more songs like these of theirs with other bands and themselves too...because, it's just so EFFING difficult! It's different, the tempo is just right and sort of pushes you into another dimension...one with lots of feeling!
However, I must ask you'll to let me know what exactly the dam video means... =)

You must give it a listen ...

Paramore.

Paramore is an American band from Tennessee that formed in 2004 and have two albums since then, which are:

2005- All We Know Is Falling

2007- Riot! (A personal favourite)

Paramore actually means 'secret lover' in French, and the band was named so, because it was the maiden name of a friend's mother.
All technicalities apart, the reason why Paramore have created initial controversy is because, aiding to their extrememly punk/alternative rock sound is the female voice of Hayley Williams.

The former of the band, Josh Farro, didn't like the prospect of a 'girl' singing and basically heading the band and this did cause severe media frenzies...but, pushed it all aside, were 4 fantastic 'forever on T.V' songs- 'Misery Business', 'This heart', 'CrushCrushCrush', and 'That's What You Get'.

Paramore's musical influences are: Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate and Death Cab for Cutie to name a few popular ones.
They're definately NOT one of those 'Kelly Clarkson with band' meet's 'Rock chic Avril Lavigne move' !

The vocals are nothing short of inspiring, for a girl to have gotten so far, without stirring much comparison to 'fallen-flat before' girl bands. She screams, she sings...she doesn't 'try'.
The sound is extremely unique, with heavy guitars here and there by basist Jeremy Davis and lead Josh Farro, but you'll never miss out the OBVIOUS 'drum beat' opening (at the start of every song, almost) by an enthusiast, Zac Farro.

You should give the top 4 song's that I have listed, a listen. It's definately worth it.
And if the lead singer being a girl is a 'turn down' before you've even bothered to hear, then put all previous music myths aside and give this a shot. You'll be surprised at how wrong you are!

The Used.

The Used is an American band, from Utah. They started out exactly 7 years ago, which means 2001 till present, and they're still alive and kicking.
The way the band formed however, was less than ordinary...with lead singer 'Bert' being a 'mormon', and rebelling against family values, moved out and lived with his girlfriend, who died years later of a drug overdose when carrying his child.

The band however recovered from a shattered Bert, got a new drummer and kicked off with 3 amazing studio albums, created every alternative year from when they had started out, namely:

2002- The Used
2004- In love and death
2007- Lies for the Liars (which is a personal favourite).

They do have a couple of EPs, compilation albums and singles...but they're added to studio albums to provide variety.

The reason why I liked 'The Used' personally, is because, they bring back that 'hardcore meets punk' sound, with the occassional 'screaming' <---(sometimes, Bert screams so much, at Live shows, that he throws up on stage).

The instruments are the heavy kind, on the most part but definately 'NOT' the 'monotonous' kind of heavy, with angry guitars blaring out curses!
The lyrics, are a personal favourite, because they make you think about everyday life...and most song's today about cliched love, life and clubs, don't help you do that.

A plus is Bert's voice- effortless is the only way to describe it, but a negative factor would be that most people assume he's a lazy asshole, hence the 'drone'.

Anyway, a good song for a start off to listen to, would be:
The Taste of Ink.

Give it a shot.

Ps- Comments are welcome, but not arguments. Arguments about music,

I've heard and know are useless.

The Review

Hey!

This is my second blog.... the first one being more personal, I'm going to review music here because it's something I can do almost better than cribbing about my everyday life.

Both the blogs will still be heavily updated, everyday....(unfortunately, for the few of you that I hate) but otherwise, keep in touch and keep em' comments coming.
